(Via Kotaku): In 1990, Nintendo releases the SNES in Japan.
They go on to sell 49 million units worldwide, a number that was certainly aided by Super Mario World, which also made its debut today. I still remember reading an old Nintendo Power when the development team admitted they'd wanted a dinosaur since Super Mario Bros., but couldn't pull it off properly with the hardware.
If I could only play one game on one system for the rest of my life, it would be Super Mario World on the SNES. But no one cares about me, what are your great SNES moments??

Oh Man....Back to the Roots! XD I remember the christmas that my Dad got the super nintendo. He pulled it out and us kids were like..."Daddy, what is thaaaaaat?" With some minor pokeage we soon found out the glorious wonders of the SNES. I remember only having 2 games for the system, and we played it all the time. Super Mario Bros. and Earth Defense Force. Since we were so little and there wasn't a lot of allowance we just made do playing these two games until gameboy came out. I loved Super Mario Bros. Anyway, I remember how when I would play I would move the controller in the air to where I wanted to move on screen and you'd always see me sitting there waving my hands around with the controller, and to think the Nintendo Wii requires you to move your controller in the air to move things on the screen. Especially after all that time it took me to break the habit of fidgeting while playing...Oh well! XD Back to the roots, indeed.
Luv,
Rin
