KAT-TUN is a male j-pop band, which me and my friends (espically Sakura and Jai-chan) are in love with. =O

If ANYTHING... You should mention SMAP! "Sports and Music Assemble People"
They paved the way for ALL of Johnny Bands.
Granted, they had a rocky start in the beginning... but with their variety shows like SMAPxSMAP, SMAP Bistro... Their popularity shot up there! HIT after HIT especially their remake of "世界に一つだけの花" which is still very popular today.(I would sing it in Karaoke often)
From Voice acting to Movies...
Dramas to Cooking... SMAP has been there and BACK!
Also... I'd have to give a LOT of credit to V6 who very successfully followed SMAP and has shows of their own... Viva V6 and 学校へ行こう... not to mention the various shows, dramas, movies and radio shows they've done.
I admit... I'm a little biased...
I DO watch both SMAP's and V6's shows... KAT-KUN? OH! Those DoCoMo guys? BaH!
...I have to say... if it wasn't for KinKi Kids... and the giant media push they got from "Team Johnny" there WOULD be no KAT-TUN...
