On May 5, 2007, news broke on the Tokyo Broadcasting System's newscast that Ai Kago had signed with another talent agency based in her hometown of Nara.[6] Previously, fans and J-pop bloggers had speculated, based on past statements by the singer when she first joined Morning Musume, that she wanted to leave show business and begin having children at a young age like her mother before her; in the wake of the new news, many of those same bloggers are considering the possibility that Kago had orchestrated the sex scandal in order to break free of her contract with UFA
