Top Bad Fansubs
You've been there before. You download some series, subbed by some unprofessional group, and you get fansubs like these:
And, of course, the legend:
This one's just for fun, click it for a larger view. This 'excellent' strategy is actually just an end-user agreement.
Some images came from here, but the provider doesn't seem to be hosting them anymore.
Though thanks to Google, you can see the rest for the time being.

Dude these are funny!
"Cherry Blossom" down to "Over seas Mafia" don't even look like they from the same anime... No wonder you think they are bad!
Maybe someone just cut up some clips from different anime and strung them together like those music thingys people make?
Star Wars one...? I can't tell which part of the movie that is... was something else supposed to be said instead? Would something like "Don't Need!" be more stronger in that particular situation?
Either way... it's thanks to "Bad Fan-subs" and such... that people want to learn English... to understand the subtle differences and nuances... Words like "Bad" and "Terrible" can mean the same thing to some people... and to others the severity is much more different.
The thing that makes Languages difficult is there usually is no direct word for word translation... a lot is open to interpretation and transliteration...
These are great! :D
LOL, Kami.
What a killjoy. XD
Okay, I'll give a shot at explaining.
These are obviously from different series, but that's why I prefaced this article with the title, "Top Bad Fansubs."
It showcases someone's good old 'college try' at making one, but without a complete grasp of the language or simple neglect to profread.
In the case of the Star Wars one, that bad dubbing is legendary. It spawned an internet meme that's lasted for years. A Chinese subbing group made their own subtitles for the movie, but translated them back to English for whatever reason, so you get the English dialog track, with these weird subtitles that don't match up.
For instance, at one point, the "Jedi Counsel" gets translated as "the Presbyterian Church", in spite of the spoken dialog.
In the scene pictured, Darth Vader is simply saying, "Noooooooo!" which spawned a meme of its own.
For some of these you have to understand the pop cultural references. Nowadays, you might hear a lot of people allude to the "mass naked child events" in other websites and forums, that's where it came from.
Of course, on the contrary, there are a lot of excellent subs out there, they just aren't as epically funny.
I appreciate what these subbers do, but I really appreciate when they make these screencap-worthy funny jabs or mistakes.
At first when I saw the title... I figured it would be stuff like...
"小川先生" into "Small river old life" or something like that :P
(one of the people I used to tutor used to make common mistakes like that)
I thought this post was perhaps your own little recommendation on which subtitle people to avoid... so I didn't quite look until I saw Pocky say they were funny... so I looked... and just didn't "get" them =/
At least none of the ones you showed had stuff like "I wish I had a MAC" on them...
Oh! Here's one for you!
LOL, now you're getting it!
Look at the monitor to your right! *look left*
Lol, subtitling a bird's chirp with a 'loud voice' emoticon XD
I don't get the Pastel Ink and Evangelion ones either...
It's funny how so many different translations come out of one japanese sentence (and one totally misheard one -pokes top one-)
LOL Darth Vader talks cat-speak XD
